CIAA files graft case against nine including SPC CEO Paudel

Kathmandu : The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a graft case against nine individuals, including the Security Printing Center CEO Bikal Paudel, for their alleged involvement in the procurement case of the high-profile Security Printing Press (SPP).

On Sunday, the anti-graft body filed a case against nine people including Paudel in a special court for corruption in the procurement of SPP and pressurized fuel storage tank power system.

The CIAA has filed a case against CEO Paudel with a claim of 690 million 881 thousand 854 rupees.

According to the CIAA, CEO Paudel embezzled a huge amount of money in procuring the power system, low-quality electric transformers, making unreasonable cost estimates, and buying a bulk fuel tank system which does not deem justifiable.

Similarly, along with Paudel, Nabin Kumar Pokharel of the mechanical department under the Ministry of Forest and Environment has also faced a corruption case of Rs 494 million,635 thousanad,945 rupees.

The CIAA has filed a case against Ramesh Prasad Pokharel, the then Assistant CEO of the Printing Center working at the National Information Technology Center, with a demand of 203,893,827 rupees.

Similarly, the Authority has also filed corruption charges against Branch Officer Manikman Maharjan, then Accounts Officer Ram Bahadur Budha, Branch Officer Shirish Upadhyay, Managing Director Rohit Man Pradhan of Engineering Marketing Concern, Director Bhuvan Maharjan of Meptech Buildings Service Pvt Ltd.
