Kathmandu : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has put a ban on the screening of Indian films in the movie halls within the metropolis effective from tomorrow (Monday).

After the controversial dialogue of the South Indian film ‘Adipurush’ was not removed in India, the metropolis has started preparations to not allow it to run in the Kathmandu metropolis.

According to sources at the metropolis, the metropolitan police reached the movie halls on Sunday and instructed theater operators not to show the movie from tomorrow (Monday).

Mayor Balendra Shah wrote a letter to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, urging the latter to remove the controversial part of the movie through diplomatic talks in India as well.

In Nepal, the movie is running after removing the dialogue, ‘Sita is the daughter of India.’

Taking to social networking sites, Balen wrote, “There is no doubt that it is the duty of every government, government agencies, non-governmental sector and Nepali citizens to protect the national interest freedom, independence and dignity intact.”

He also informed that all the Indian films will be banned starting tomorrow.

“If the film is allowed to be shown in other areas within the country and abroad, it will establish a misleading fact, so it is prohibited to show any Indian films in the Kathmandu metropolis until the objectionable part is removed from the said film.” He said.
