ICC Men’s T20 WC Asia Qualifier: Nepal beats Singapore by 8 wickets

Kathmandu : Nepal has made a flying start by clinching an eight-wicket win against Singapore at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier.

Chasing the 146-run target set by Singapore at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday, Nepal reached it in 16.3 overs losing two wickets.

Kushal Bhurtel topped the score with 74 runs including eight fours and two sixes off 48 deliveries. Similarly, Skipper Rohit Paudel scored 35 runs and Aasif Sheikh contributed 27 runs. 

Aryaveer Chaudhary and Akshay Puri took one wicket each for Singapore. 

Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Singapore notched up 145 runs in the cricket tournament held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Rohan Rangarajan made the highest score with 46 runs including nine fours and one six off 30 balls. Similarly, Aryaveer Chaudhary made 37 runs while Manpreet Singh contributed 24 runs. Akshay Puri collected 13 runs while the other batsmen could not score double-digit runs.

In reply, Abinash Bohara took the highest 3 wickets while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and Gulsan Jha claimed two wickets each for Nepal.
