President urges leaders to enact laws to empower provinces

Kathmandu : President Ramchandra Paudel has urged the top leaders of three major political parties to move ahead in unison to strengthen the democratic political system in the country.

President Paudel urged Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli in a meeting called by him at Sheetal Niwas on Friday afternoon.

During the meeting called on the occasion of 302nd Prithvi Jayanti, President drew the leaders’ attention towards the implementation of the federalism, good governance and reformations in the universities, informed President’s Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.

According to Pokharel, the head of state urged the leaders to empower provinces by enacting laws for the implementation of the federalism.    

Meanwhile, the President also urged them to appoint an efficient academic to the post of Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University in order to bring reforms in the universities.

The urge made by the President was taken by the leaders positively, Sheetal Niwas has said.
