NEB Grade 12 Result 2082 Published: 61.17% Students Pass

The National Examination Board (NEB) of Nepal has officially published the results of the Grade 12 examination for the academic year 2079/80 (2082 B.S.). A total of 511,525 students from across the country participated in the exams, with an overall pass rate of 61.17%. This marks a significant improvement compared to last year’s 52.9% pass rate. Despite the rise in successful candidates, a considerable number—38.83% of the total examinees—failed to meet the minimum grade requirement and were categorized as “Non-Graded” (NG).
Breaking down the results, the regular category saw participation from 396,347 students, of which 61.17% passed while 38.83% received NG status. The partial category included 114,640 students, but only 36.49% managed to pass, and a concerning 63.51% failed to meet the grading criteria. The large portion of non-graded students, particularly in the partial group, continues to be a matter of concern for educators and policymakers.
In terms of GPA distribution among all students (regular and partial combined), 13,502 students secured the highest bracket of 3.61 to 4.00 (A+), followed by 55,896 students who scored between 3.21 to 3.60 (A). Similarly, 94,268 students received GPA between 2.81 to 3.20 (B+), 69,812 scored between 2.41 to 2.80 (B), 8,964 achieved GPA between 2.01 to 2.40 (C+), and only 23 students fell into the lowest GPA category of 1.61 to 2.00 (D). Alarmingly, 153,882 students could not meet the minimum requirements and were marked as non-graded.
The NEB has also announced that students who failed in no more than two subjects or were absent in up to two papers are eligible to appear in the upcoming supplementary (grade improvement) examinations. These exams are tentatively scheduled for Bhadra 28 and 29, 2082 (September 13–14, 2025). This opportunity allows students a second chance to improve their academic performance and continue their education without repeating the year entirely.
Despite the overall improvement in the pass percentage, challenges remain. A high number of students still struggle in key subjects such as English, Accountancy, Social Studies, and Nepali. Educational experts are calling for reforms in teaching methods, curriculum design, and continuous assessment systems to reduce failure rates and support academic success.
Students can check their results through multiple methods. Online results are available at neb.gov.np, result.neb.gov.np, and neb.ntc.net.np. Additionally, students can send an SMS with the format NEB <symbol number> to 1600, use the IVR service by calling 1601, or dial *1600# via a Nepal Telecom SIM for USSD-based result access.
The publication of the Grade 12 results is a critical moment for students, families, and institutions alike. As they begin the next phase of their academic or professional journey, it is essential that support systems are in place to help guide both successful and non-graded students toward better opportunities.
